It’s time for Christians (including Catholics) to Reconsider Any Allegiance to the Democrat Party

If you’re a Christian (including Catholic) and a Democrat, you need to reconsider your allegiance to a party that is increasingly anti-Christian and poses a significant threat to your religious liberties.  President Obama has been on the forefront of this illiberal movement, as the most anti-Christian president in US history, despite the fact that he calls himself one, and his Democrat party is aligned with his every move.  Here are just some facts to consider:

  •       The Obama Administration has denied Catholics’ religious freedoms by mandating abortions in health insurance plans. His Justice Department is actively fighting 56 separate federal court cases aimed at forcing 140 religious ministries and institutions to cooperate with ACA regulations that require virtually all health care plans in the country to cover contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs and devices – in violation Christian faiths.   Among the Christian institutions involved in these lawsuits with the administration are 15 Catholic dioceses and archdioceses, along with many Catholic universities, schools and religious orders.[1]
  •        A Catholic group, Priests for Life, along with other prominent groups including the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., Catholic Charities of D.C., the Catholic Information Center, Thomas Aquinas College and the Catholic University of America, are making the same argument in their appeal to the Supreme Court: The administration is trying to force it to act against the Catholic faith.[2]
  •        In a 2011 case before the Supreme Court, Hosanna-Tabor v. EEOC, an employment dispute at a Lutheran school, the Obama administration argued that the First Amendment's religion clauses do not exempt churches from employment discrimination laws, even when considering head clergy. This extreme position would, unbelievably, allow a non-Christian to become a Christian minister, or a non-Muslim to become an imam.  A unanimous Court rejected the administration's argument as untenable, saying, "We cannot accept the remarkable view that the Religion Clauses have nothing to say about a religious organization's freedom to select its own ministers."[3]
  •       Despite the thousands killed by Islamic terror attacks here in America, and the daily news of Islamic terror and killings globally, a new poll reveals that an astounding 45% of Democrats who responded believe that Christians are a greater threat to America than Muslims, while 2/3 of all Americans believe that Muslims pose the greater threat.[4]
  •       While President Obama and the Democrat party have refused to use the words “Islamic terrorism”, he has been completely silent on the rampant genocide against Christians in the Middle East – so much so that a bipartisan bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a resolution to fill the leadership void.[5] This resolution condemns the Islamic State’s murder of Christians and other religious minorities as “war crimes”, “crimes against humanity” and “genocide”, labels that Obama and the Democrat Party as a whole have so far refused to use.[6]
  •        As part of his speech during the National Prayer Breakfast in 2015, Obama downplayed acts of Islamic terrorism taking place around the world and equated ISIS with Christians from the past, stating, "Lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ.”[7]  Louisiana Governor Jindal responded appropriately, saying "Today, however, the issue right in front of his nose, in the here and now, is the terrorism of radical Islam, the assassination of journalists, the beheading and burning alive of captives….We will be happy to keep an eye out for runaway Christians, but it would be nice if he would face the reality of the situation today. The medieval Christian threat is under control, Mr. President. Please deal with the radical Islamic threat today”.[8]
  •       The Democrat Party removed all references to God in its 2012 Democrat Party platform and speeches planned at the 2012 Democrat Convention. They changed this policy at the last minute due to a public outcry, however they showed their true colors then.

Christians and Catholics need to know that conservatives have shown a very different approach to protecting our Constitutional religious freedoms and liberties. (And, no, Jesus was NOT a socialist! In the New Testament, Christ never encouraged his followers to steal property from one to give to another to whom it doesn’t belong, or to give more to Caesar for the government at the time to redistribute; he instead preached acts of individual sacrifice, charity, kindness and generosity – which perfectly align with true conservative values).  The GOP is the party that will defend the Christian faith from attacks by progressives and support our country’s Christian roots, while the Democrats have shown themselves to be essentially secular as today’s anti-God and anti-Christian party.
